Powder Coating Resins

TGIC Powder Coating

TGIC Powder Coating

Unlike liquid paints and coatings that are delivered through the evaporation of a solvent powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and cured under heat by a melting process. They are applied as dry powders and are excellently suited for powder coating metals like automobile parts, aluminium extrusions but also household appliances, furniture as well as agricultural and construction equipment. The coatings show high mechanical, corrosion and chemical resistance, great hardness, and flexibility. Furthermore, the coating process releases few to no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) rendering powder coatings an excellent choice for indoor and outdoor applications. Excess powder can be collected and reused to minimize product waste and pollution of surrounding areas.

TGIC & HAA Polyester resins for powder coating

Polyester resins are the most commonly used for powder coatings and are a common first choice for many applications. The two most widely used types of polyester powder coatings are TGIC (tri glycidyl isocyanurate) and TGIC-free, mostly based on hydroxy alkyl amide (HAA) hardeners “Primid®”. Both TGIC and Primid® polyesters offer good mechanical and chemical resistance, also including great flexibility and impact resistance. Polyester powder coatings show versatile all-around properties. Both TGIC and Primid® polyester powder coating also provides good overbake resistance to yellowing, which renders them easy to use.  A particular advantage of polyester powder coatings is that they offer excellent UV resistance, making them great choices for all interior and many exterior applications. Another huge advantage of polyester powder coating is the enormous variety of applicable colors, gloss levels, and special effects. The possibilities are nearly infinite!
