DROGENBOS, (July 24, 2019) – allnex, a global leader in energy-curable technology for industrial, graphics, consumer electronics, plastics and special purpose coatings and inks, today announced the launch of its new EBECRYL® 1205 developed for automotive plastics, consumer electronics, physical dry coatings, automotive refinish and plastic film forming.
EBECRYL® 1205 is an OH-functional acrylate binder that is suitable for both dual cure and standard UV-curable coating systems. The former can be combined with isocyanate-bearing resins in order to obtain good adhesion, mechanical and chemical resistance of the film, while the latter is designed to improve adhesion on critical substrates, such as plastics.
One of the main advantages brought by EBECRYL® 1205 dual cure coating systems is that their tack-free and non-blocking properties at the thermal stage can offer users a degree of freedom in the sense that coated substrates can be formed, cut or molded into a variety of shapes and sizes prior to being exposed to UV light.
Yan Lee, Global Marketing Manager Consumer Electronics & Industrial Plastics at allnex said: “Thanks to the outstanding performance EBECRYL 1205 demonstrates in dual cure systems, formulators are able to significantly improve the chemical and humidity resistances for different automotive interior norms. The excellent adhesion to all PC, ABS and PC/ABS substrates provided by this product, along with its excellent leveling also allow them to formulate one single coating solution that fit a wide array of substrate types, which proves extremely beneficial to downstream coaters.”
Key benefits and features of EBECRYL® 1205 include:
- Excellent adhesion
- Excellent chemical resistance (2K)
- Excellent humidity resistance (2K)
- Low yellowing
- Tack-free upon solvent evaporation
