Kalamazoo Employee Cooks for Charity

Nov 23, 2019 Corporate

KALAMAZOO, MI, (November 22, 2019) - allnex, the leading supplier of specialty chemicals, offering a broad range of coating resins, additives and crosslinkers for use on wood, metal, plastic and other surfaces, wants to highlight one of our Kalamazoo employees for giving back to the local community.

On August 10th, there was a local cooking competition and fundraiser called “100 Men Who Cook”, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Kalamazoo.

The Boys and Girls Club’s mission: “To enhance the quality of life of young people through education, art, health, and recreation, especially for those who need us most.” The “100 Men Who Cook” event was a huge success, raising over $190,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Kalamazoo.  The funds will help the organization to provide educational and recreational after-school programs free of charge to youth in the community as well as summer programs. The Club is dedicated to ensuring that the youth in Kalamazoo have a safe place to go, access to quality programs and services that enhance their lives and shape their futures.

Our very own Engineering Manager Jim Mumford was selected to compete in the event, as an avid cooking enthusiast.  In fact, Jim posts recipes regularly on his blog – and his co-workers can attest to his skill in the kitchen.

At the event, Jim and his wife Gloria served hundreds of portions of his signature dish, which is pork belly grits with chimichurri and blistered tomatoes.

Thank you Jim and Gloria for giving back to your local community in such a fun and unique way!
