Smyrna, Georgia – April 24, 2013 – Coating Resins, formerly Cytec Coating Resins, announced that its twoplants in South Carolina - North Augusta and Langley - were named the recipient of the Silver Crescent Foundation’s 2013 Silver Crescent Award for Manufacturing Excellence in the Small Manufacturer category.

The award was presented to Coating Resins for its manufacturing facilities’ noteworthy accomplishments, aligned with the seven Crescents of Excellence: Financial Performance, Customer Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Citizenship, Innovation, Environmental Stewardship and Longevity Plan for South Carolina.

The Coating Resins North Augusta plant manufactures energy-curable and polyester powder resins for use in graphic arts, industrial coating, and wood protection applications, and in the powder painting of appliances and tractors. The Coating Resins Langley plant, meanwhile, produces acrylic polymer emulsions, acrylic resins, waterborne epoxies, and various coating additives for use in primers, overprint varnishes, pigment dispersants, 2-part epoxies, automotive clearcoats, and adhesive applications. The North Augusta and Langley sites are approximately six miles apart, and share the same local leadership team, as well as many support functions. The sites have an engaged workforce of 135 employees.

“This achievement highlights the importance of our continuous commitment to producing quality products in a safe and environmentally conscious manner and our dedication to reaching for excellence in everything we do,” states Rick Gilder, site manager of both the North Augusta and Langley facilities. “We are extremely proud of our work in South Carolina and are elated to have been recognized for our work within the industry and throughout the community.”

In addition to Coating Resins, the Silver Crescent Foundation named other winners including Midsized Manufacturer Southern Weaving of Greenville and Large Manufacturer Nucor Steel of Mount Pleasant. The Silver Crescent Foundation’s mission is to increase awareness of the importance of manufacturing among the public by promoting manufacturing vitality and advancing career opportunities in South Carolina.
