Frankfurt, (June 14, 2018) – allnex, the leading supplier of specialty chemicals, offering a broad range of liquid coating resins, additives, powder and UV/EB-curable coating resins, crosslinkers for use on wood, metal, plastic and other surfaces, is thrilled to announce its full compliance with the European REACH1 regulation. Having successfully completed a total of 183 registrations with ECHA by the May 31st, 2018 deadline set by the European Union, this final step and important milestone puts allnex in an excellent position to continue providing its EU customers with both qualitative and regulatory-compliant products.
Compliance being an essential part of our core values and a key pillar in our sustainability strategy, the entire exercise has been carried out involving several functions of our organization since as far back as 2008: Product Line Managers and Business Units Directors, Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) and the Analytical Department, Manufacturing and Engineering, as well as Procurement. The first dossiers were submitted in 2010 for substances manufactured in the high tonnage band.
"It has been a tremendous amount of work requiring a lot of coordination within allnex, but also with competitors and toxicity testing labs," said Perrine Cahen, Global PSRA Director, "All of the teams involved have worked so hard to ensure business continuity. This project has been a very successful cross-functional collaboration. It also brought a lot of new information on the (eco)toxicity properties of our products".
Despite the huge success and significance of this project for allnex, more remains to be done in the coming years. This will entail keeping a close eye on latest REACH developments and changes and taking the necessary measures to comply with them, maintaining the open dialog we have been having with the regulatory authorities, and of course monitoring the REACH compliance of new products, new raw materials and vendors, to accommodate higher tonnage bands and requests of our customers wanting to import our products into EU.
