allnex develops EBECRYL® series of high performance BPA-free replacement solutions for the packaging and inks market

Oct 17, 2019 Innovation
This provides a positive solution for both immediate customers and ultimately end consumers, but also the environment" Eileen Weber, Global Marketing Manager Packaging Coatings & Inks Radcure

DROGENBOS, (October 17, 2019) – allnex, a global leader in energy-curable technology for industrial, graphics, consumer electronics, plastics and special purpose coatings and inks, today announced the launch of four high perfomance, organo-tin- and BPA-free replacement solutions for lithographic, flexographic, screen, gravure, and direct or reverse roll UV/EB-curable inks applications. The products in question are EBECRYL® 416, 417, 418 and 441.

The arrival of those cost-effective solutions to the packaging and inks market couldn’t be more timely. Indeed, with increasing legislation surrounding the use of Bisphenol A (BPA) and more awareness of its health risks, safer BPA-free replacements were the coating industry’s logical answer to those concerns. The challenge however was to offer one-for-one replacements that delivered the same properties and level of performance as the currently available BPA-containing chlorinated polyesters - a feat the allnex team is happy to report was achieved with the development of BPA-free EBECRYL® 416, 417, 418 and 441.

Key benefits and features of EBECRYL® 416, 417, 418 and 441 include:

  • Good adhesion to plastic substrates (PE, PP, PET, PC, OPS and PVC), metals and paper
  • High reactivity
  • Available in multiple dilutions
  • Organo-tin free
  • TSCA status with no SNUR

Proud of this new addition to allnex’s UV-curable portfolio, Eileen Weber, Global Marketing Manager Packaging Coatings & Inks (Radcure) at allnex commented: “We are enthusiastic with the launch of these BPA-free products as it not only updates our portfolio with unique products in an everchanging market, but it also provides a positive solution for both immediate customers and ultimately end consumers and the environment.”
