Wallingford, Conn. (Dec. 1st, 2016) – The allnex Wallingford site recently hosted eleven Wallingford Public School science teachers for a science workshop, developed and led by the Kellogg Environmental Center of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). In addition to attending the workshop, teachers toured the allnex facility, learning more about its innovative product lines and environmental improvement efforts.

Wallingford teachers participated in both Project WILD and Project WET programs. The Project WILD program focuses on wildlife and habitat while the Project WET program examines water’s role in the social and cultural contexts and as a managed resource. The DEEP’s award-winning environmental curriculum offers effective methods for teaching problem solving and decision-making, teaching how to think, not what to think.

“Thank you so much for organizing and funding the DEEP Project WET and Project WILD programs today,” Science Curriculum Resource Teacher Kate O’Donnell said. “ The teachers really liked the tour and the workshop. They all expressed excitement about ideas they now have to integrate their new learning into their teaching.”

As Wallingford Site Manager Frank DiCristina confirms, allnex values its partnership with Superintendent Sal Menzo and the Wallingford Public Schools.

“When we educate teachers, we know that we are, in turn, educating hundreds of Wallingford students,” DiCristina said. “allnex appreciates the opportunity to foster partnerships for the betterment of the community.”
