allnex Offering Sanitizer to Local Businesses

abr 27, 2020 Corporate
ALPHARETTA, (April 27, 2020) - allnex, the leading supplier of industrial coating resins, offering a broad range of resins, additives and crosslinkers for use on wood, metal, plastic and other surfaces, has been able to get two of our Americas sites (Louisville KY and Langley SC) approved to produce and distribute medical-grade hand sanitizer to their local communities.
Because of the markets and businesses we supply, allnex has been classified as an essential industry and has continued operating through the COVID-19 crisis.  However, many of allnex’s customers have delayed their orders, thereby freeing some capacity at our plants. The question quickly was asked:  What can we do to use this extra capacity to help during this crisis?
As a chemical manufacturing company, the answer was easy – make hand sanitizer.  Making hand sanitizer is a relatively easy process, but obtaining the required grades of raw materials during this time of high demand proved to be difficult.  Obtaining certification from the regulatory agencies was also required, and was critical to allow distribution of the hand sanitizer to the public.
We are very proud of our Louisville and Langley staff who managed to streamline the process to get the certification and raw materials in a very short amount of time.  The Louisville site has now begun production of medical-grade hand sanitizer, making an astonishing 600 gallons per batch, or the equivalent of 12 drums. With the current supply of raw materials, Louisville plans on making 8,000 gallons!
Our Langley plant also moved quickly into action and has produced 24 drums of finished hand sanitizer this week for distribution to their community.
In addition, our Wallingford, CT site is in the process of getting certified, and expects to produce up to 1,000 gallons total, starting as early as next week.
For our other sites that have not yet received the required certification or do not have local production capability, the Louisville site will be sending drums of medical-grade sanitizer to those sites for local distribution. These receiving sites include East St. Louis, IL, Kalamazoo, MI, Willow Island, WV and Alpharetta, GA.
If you are in the medical field near any of the above-mentioned cities and need hand sanitizer, please contact communications@allnex.com to see if we can assist.
Huge congrats to all of our Americas sites working together to make a difference!
