allnex is pleased to announce the expansion of the allnex plant located in Ponta Grossa, Brazil
Alpharetta, GA. (January 19, 2018) – allnex is pleased to announce the expansion of the allnex plant located in Ponta Grossa, Brazil to include production of select CYMEL®, CYREZ® and SETAMINE® amino resins. With this increased capability in the region, allnex is the only large scale multi-national producer of amino resins within South America.
Aminos resins are industrial thermoset crosslinking agents for solvent and waterborne coatings. As a global leader in supply of amino resins, our crosslinkers have been used for over 50 years in metal, wood and rubber coating applications, including automotive OEM, kitchen cabinets, metal food and beverage packaging, metal building products, tire and general metal finishing.
Originally, the plant was owned by Águia Química, one of the largest manufacturers of alkyd and acrylic resins in Brazil. In 2015, allnex acquired Águia Química and continued to produce the alkyd and acrylic resins at the site. As Brazil is the largest market for amino resins in South America, we are pleased to now have local capacity to better support our customers in the region.
“When we acquired Águia Química, it was always in the plan to expand the production of allnex products,” says Tracy Roop, Regional Business Director Americas, allnex. “Our customers in the region needed to be more competitive, and by having a local producer they are able to bypass the high costs of duties and tariffs that come with importing. In addition, they can rely on a consistent, high-quality product they’ve come to expect from us – but by condensing the supply chain, they now get that product in a much shorter time frame.”
