allnex Participating in Big Ideas Conference 19.-20.03, 2019

7 марта 2019 г Trade Show
At the allnex stand, our experts will be on-hand to discuss our UV/EB Curable Product range and show you how we became the leading industrial coating resins company.

ALPHARETTA, (March 6, 2019) - allnex, the leading supplier of specialty chemicals, offering a broad range of coating resins, additives and crosslinkers for use on wood, metal, plastic and other surfaces, is participating in the Big Ideas Conference (formerly UV.EB West) being held this March 19-20 in Redondo Beach, CA.

Created by RadTech, the focus of the Big Ideas Conference is to provide a forum and educational seminars on not only UV+EB technology, but will include 3D printing, additive manufacturing, UV LED, printing, automotive, data-driven materials and more.

At the allnex stand, our experts will be on-hand to discuss our UV/EB Curable Product range and show you how we became the leading industrial coating resins company.

In addition, allnex is also proud to have three speaking engagements at the show.

Title: Formulating for UV Cure in Additive Manufacturing
Date/Time: Tuesday, March 19, Track A, Additive Manufacturing I, 8:00-10:00am
Speaker: Dr. Jo Ann Arceneaux, allnex USA, Inc.
Abstract: Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, has evolved from use in prototyping to use in manufacturing finished parts. The performance properties for finished parts are very different from those for prototypes. Thermoplastic type properties are desired, with ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) and PP (polypropylene) type properties the most popular. Very flexible formulations are also advantageous. This paper will evaluate the properties of various oligomers and monomers. The properties of 3D printed formulations based on these materials will then be determined and compared to ABS and PP.

Title: Photoinitiator Choices with 365 nm UV LED Cure Formulations
Date/Time: Tuesday, March 19 - Track B, UV LED 2:00-4:00pm
Speaker: Dr. Jo Ann Arceneaux, allnex USA, Inc.
Abstract: Today, most commercial UV LED installations are centered around 395 nm (385, 395 or 405 nm).   However, recent advances in 365 nm UV LED lamps have made them commercially viable.  There is interest in the 365 nm UV LED lamps due to broader photoinitiator options.  This paper will explore the use of several photoinitiators in 365 nm UV LED cure formulations, and also compare the results with 395 nm UV LED cure formulations.

Title: Material Properties of UV Cured Composites
Date/Time: Wednesday, March 20 - 8:00-12:00pm
Speaker: Dr. Jon Shaw, Allnex
Abstract: Composites are generally cured at elevated temperature for relatively short periods of time, or at ambient temperature for longer periods of time, or through some combination of the above. Employing Ultraviolet (UV) energy to cure composites offers a styrene-free, fast and one component alternative to current composite manufacturing processes. One challenge to using UV energy is to cure very thick parts, since the UV energy is attenuated as it passed through the fibers. Different strategies for thick cure, such as dual cure, cure while winding or LED curing will be compared. Advances in renewable and bio-based materials will be highlighted.
