Lillestrøm Field Transforms into Bee Oasis

set 25, 2019 Corporate

Lillestrøm, (September 24, 2019) - allnex, a leading supplier of specialty chemicals, offering a broad range of coating resins, additives and crosslinkers for use on wood, metal, plastic and other surfaces, is thrilled that the vision created by our Lillestrøm office during Primavera Day is now in full bloom!

Back in March, there was a great turnout of employees at the Primavera Day in Lillestrøm. Colleagues gathered to discuss their plans to further implement sustainable practices on site. At the start, the meeting highlighted the efforts already made: Lillestrøm's CO2 footprint vs others. Based on results, we think our Lillestrøm site may be the world's lowest CO2 emission amino plant!

A lot of engagement and good ideas came out of the workout sessions, where employees brainstormed no less than 67 sustainable ideas. One of them came from shift engineer, Anders Fjeldseth.

He proposed to transform the barren field behind the plant's factory into a wildflower meadow and bee sanctuary. In the last decades, many species of bees have been disappearing. This is a serious issue as bees pollinate many of the plants we eat and enjoy. One of the things we can do to help the bees is to plant wild flowers.

Anders and production operator, Jan Lenny Johansson did a great job sowing seeds into the whole field. The transformation is remarkable and the bees have started taking notice!

A compost bin has been placed behind the factory so that next year left over food will fertilize the ground for even more flowers.

We wish to wish Anders, Jan and the whole Lillestrøm team kudos on an amazing idea and job well done!
