Introducing ULTRATEC™: New Anti-Static Tooling Gelcoat System

allnex, the global leader in sustainable and innovative resins for industrial coatings, invites you to learn more about the latest launch in the Composites line, ULTRATEC™.

Traditionally, anti-static products have been developed typically using conductive black carbon, graphite, or Carbon-fibre. However, these additives can have a negative impact on the tooling gelcoat including mechanical properties, color, viscosity and gloss.

Comprised of the three core pieces listed below, this new gelcoat system has been formulated to eliminate static discharge on the surface while demoulding.  Moulds should still be properly earthed.

The cured gelcoat surface is classified as static dissipative (carries electrical charge with a resistance between 10⁶ to 3 x 10⁸ Ω), and reduces the risk of static shock, prevents damage of electrical devices and eliminates fire hazard due to discharge.
 
Benefits of the Anti-Static Tooling Gelcoat System include:
 
  • Safer working environment with no electrical discharge during demoulding when properly earthed
  • Less dust build up on the mould
