Cleaning Supply Donation Enables Nonprofit to Comply with COVID-19 Health Regulations

Aiken, South Carolina, (June 4, 2021) – allnex Site Manager Rick Gilder and his teams at the North Augusta and Langley sites recently donated much needed sanitizing and cleaning supplies to Helping Hands, a local nonprofit that provides temporary housing to displaced children and families.

“The coronavirus pandemic has created an unprecedented need to disinfect more regularly using CDC-approved solutions,” Carmen Landy, Chief Executive Officer of Helping Hands, said.  “The donation from allnex helps to defray the costs and enables us to focus our efforts on our deserving residents and enrichment programs.”

Helping Hands was founded on April 19, 1973 when a group of Aiken citizens realized that abused, abandoned, and/or neglected children were being temporarily housed in the Aiken County jail due to lack of foster home space. For nearly fifty years, Helping Hands has sought to enrich the quality of life of those in need through their residential and community-based services that aim to “improve the health, independent living skills, educational outcomes, and resilience.”

Landy also noted that the amount of supplies required to follow the guidelines of Universal Precautions and those specific to the pandemic to prevent transmission has been far beyond the budget for those expenses. The items from the allnex team will be added to their inventory so the organization can continue to provide a healthy and safe environment for staff and residents.

“I’m very proud of our team and their commitment to give back to our community,” Rick Gilder, allnex Site Manager, said. “This recent initiative is yet another example of their generosity and dedication to doing all they can to give back to our Aiken County friends and neighbors in need.”
