Bergen op Zoom, THE NETHERLANDS (May 5, 2020) – Allnex Netherlands B.V. (Bergen op Zoom) has started producing hand sanitizer to fill the acute shortage the local healthcare institutions are facing. The first batch was made in April and was delivered to "Thuiszorg West Brabant".

In the Netherlands, the healthcare sector is in dire need of disinfectant liquids, which are in short supply. The allnex team in Bergen op Zoom had the ability to produce such liquids. After a short internal investigation, and with the support received from the Dutch government granting us an exemption for making those gels as well as the permit issued by the provincial environmental agency, allnex started the production.

Contact has been made with various healthcare institutions in the immediate vicinity of the location in Bergen op Zoom. Hospitals still have sufficient supplies, but home care organizations are still in urgent need of hand sanitizer. The first batch of disinfectant liquid was delivered to "Thuiszorg West Brabant" last month, with allnex's promise that the company can produce more for them and other healthcare institutions.

“Covid-19 has a major impact on our society, and the healthcare sector in particular is under great pressure. allnex has launched similar activities within Europe and America. As a chemical company in Bergen op Zoom, we want to help and this is possible by producing disinfectant liquids. Internal action was therefore taken very quickly and we were able to supply our hand sanitizer to Thuiszorg West Brabant fast. Our employees are ready to make a new batch for them and other healthcare institutions” says Erik Meijer, Site Manager at allnex Bergen op Zoom.
