Allnex Introduces New Low-Migration Resin for UV Cured Food Packaging Inks and Coatings
Brussels, February 26, 2015 – Amine modified polyether acrylate EBECRYL® 85 is the latest addition to Allnex’s portfolio of curable low migration resins for indirect food contact applications.
The use of UV curable coatings and inks for food packaging applications has been limited due to concerns about odor and taste transfer resulting from the migration of resin components. In addition, as interest in curing with LED UV lamps increases, there is a need to ensure that ink and coating resins will completely react under LED curing conditions to afford the same level of hardness.
To help the industry address these concerns, Allnex has developed a series of low migration (LM) resins specifically designed for the formulation of printing inks and coatings for indirect food contact applications. These UV/EB curable low migration resins are prepared from carefully selected raw materials in production areas with special measures in place to prevent cross contamination. They also meet ISO 9001 product standards.
EBECRYL® 85 is the latest addition to Allnex’s product portfolio of low migration resins. In addition to having TSCA and REACH status, this amine modified polyether acrylate is compliant with Nestlé’s guidance note and the Swiss Ordinance B-list.
As a multi-functional, highly reactive resin that provides cured films with good hardness and solvent/blocking resistance, EBECRYL® 85 is ideally suited for use in overprint varnishes (OPV) and flexo, digital and screen-printed inks that are cured with either UV or LED UV light.
EBECRYL® 85 is the first in a series of low migration resins that will be launched by Allnex in the coming months. “We are excited about this latest expansion of our line of low migration resins.
